UK Biobank has an ethical responsibility to ensure that participants’ data are accessed only by eligible scientific researchers conducting health-related research in the public interest.  

To be eligible for access to UK Biobank data, you must:

  • demonstrate a track record of legitimate research
  • be affiliated with a recognised research organisation
  • operate from a country that complies with international regulations and is not subject to UK, US or EU sanctions
